Glenn Pettway, 25, of Bridgeport, was arrested early Friday for his role in Feb. 26, 2018, the murder of Alfanso Anderson at the Sunny Side Inn, located at 174 Lake St., said Bridgeport Police Lt. Christopher LaMaine.
LaMaine said it is believed that the murder was committed while Pettway was attempting to collect a debt owed to a prostitute and that Anderson was mistakenly identified as the man that owed the debt.
"No evidence was uncovered to believe that Anderson had any connection to Pettway, the prostitute, or that he had engaged in any illegal conduct; it appears that he was a truly innocent victim," he said.
Pettway was charged with murder, felony murder, criminal possession of a pistol, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal use of a firearm, and attempted robbery.
He is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
"This arrest is the result of the outstanding work done by all those who participated in this case, which was led by Detective Heanue," LaMaine said. "Additionally, the facts of this case would never have come to light without the hard work of Assistant United States Attorney Rahul Kale."
